Part 1: BASIC COURSE

This course exceeds the classroom and live-fire requirements needed to apply for a Basic Arkansas Concealed Handgun Carry License (Non-Enhanced).

Key Details:

  • Live Fire Qualification: Conducted at a local range. Additional time is required for this.

    • Concealed Handgun Carry License (CHCL) Laws
    • Arkansas Weapons Laws
    • CHCL Administrative Rules (revised June 25, 2018)
    • Locations Where Handgun Possession is Prohibited
    • Principles of firearm safety, handling, and basic maintenance.

Refund and Rescheduling Policy:

  • Seats are non-refundable but can be transferred to a different course date. (1st transfer is complimentary)
  • If the course is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., low enrollment), you’ll be offered a refund or transfer with no fee.

Part 2: ENHANCED

This course exceeds the classroom and live fire requirements necessary to add the Enhanced Endorsement to your Arkansas Concealed Handgun Carry License

Key Details:

  • Live Fire Qualification: Additional time (maximum 2 hours) is required at a local range.
    • (See the Course of Fire at the bottom of this page)

Enhanced Endorsement Benefits:

Carry in more locations in the State of Arkansas than the standard license, including:

  • Publicly owned buildings
  • State Capitol grounds
  • Certain meeting places of the government Including State offices and general assemblies
  • Some athletic events
  • Inside airport passenger terminals
  • Churches and places of worship
  • Parades and demonstrations
  • Public universities, colleges, and community colleges
  • Bars and places certain other places that serve alcohol

Eligibility Requirements:

        1. Hold a valid and current CHCL issued by Arkansas (or have completed the Basic course and provide both certificates). Being enrolled in the Combo Class meets this criteria
  2. Attend a course by a qualified CHCL instructor.
  3. Successfully complete the live-fire qualification.
Note: You will have 3 attempts to complete the live fire course within a maximum of 2 hours. If you not not pass, there will be a 3-month waiting period before you can reattempt the live fire portion.

Course Content:

  • Arkansas self-defense law
  • Prohibited places for concealed carry
  • Weapon retention techniques
  • General liability and risk management
  • Active shooter scenarios and response
  • Campus carry laws
  • Non-violent dispute resolution
  • CHCL rules and regulations

Important:

  • Basic firearms training is not included.
You must be confident in your ability to handle your firearm safely and proficiently.
1. All shooting is from the “ready position”.
2. The shooter must clear or work through any malfunction.  
3. The shooter should reload when necessary. 
4. Only exercises are timed. Reloads and time between exercises are not timed and do not count against the shooter’s score. 
5. If rounds are held (not fired within the allotted time) they will be counted as misses

LIVE-FIRE QUALIFICATION COURSE: 

**Stage 1: 3 yard line (20 Rounds)** 
  (A) 5 shots fired in a “one shot exercise” - 2 seconds allowed for each shot; 
  (B) 10 shots fired in a “two shot exercise” – 3 seconds allowed for each 2 shot sequence; 
  (C) 5 shots fired in 10 seconds; 

**Stage 2: 7 yard line (20 rounds)**
  (A) 5 shots fired in 10 seconds 
  (B) 5 shots fired in 2 stages:
    *2 shots fired in 4 seconds; 
    *3 shots fired in 6 seconds; 
  (C) 5 shots fired in a “one shot exercise” – 3 seconds allowed for each shot; 
  (D) 5 shots fired in 15 seconds; 

**Stage 3: 15 yard line (10 rounds)** 
  (A) 5 shots fired in 2 stages:
    *2 shots fired in 6 seconds;
    *3 shots fired in 9 seconds; 
  (B) 5 shots fired in 15 seconds; 

All shooting is from the “ready” position

The target utilized will be a B-27 target. The shooter will be scored “hit” or “miss.” 
A successful hit will be scored if the round fired cuts the line of the 7 ring or is within the 7 ring of the B-27 target.
Passing Score is 70% (35 of 50 hits)

Who Should Attend:
Anyone applying for their Arkansas Concealed Carry Handgun License (or adding the enhanced endorsement to an existing permit)

What to Bring:

  • Arkansas Drivers License
  • Ear and eye protection
  • Personal semi-automatic firearm (unloaded and cased)
  • 2 Magazines
  • Ammunition
          • 30-50 Rounds for Basic
  • 70-100 Rounds for Enhanced or Fast Track
  • Pen & paper for notes (optional)

Other

  • Comfortable clothing suitable for standing and shooting
  • Open-toed shoes and low-cut clothing are not acceptable
  • A baseball-style hat is recommended
  • Holsters are allowed at the sole discretion of the instructor

Cancellation and Transfer Policy:

  • Training courses are non-refundable but may be rescheduled up to 48 hours prior to the scheduled class date.
  • The first transfer is complimentary. Subsequent transfers may incur a fee.
  • Classes canceled less than 48 hours before the scheduled date will not be rescheduled.
